About us

The Spider Project is an award winning relapse prevention and aftercare service offering a range of creative, cultural and physical activities for people who have come to terms with their substance misuse and want to move forward with their lives.

We aim to provide former drug and alcohol users with a diverse range of stimulating, enjoyable activities designed to nurture new skills or develop existing ones.

Our objectives are :

  • to improve both physical and mental wellbeing
  • to boost self-confidence and self-esteem
  • to offer peer support & networking opportunities

We are based in a self-contained Liverpool city centre building in Pilgrim Street (inbetween Hope Street and Rodney Street) and also have an office and group room in Birkenhead Park for our Wirral service. The Spider programme has been designed to offer a range of  diverse activities and we encourage all service users to engage in different activities, although there is no compulsion to do so. Some of our service users like to try everything, others only partake in one or two sessions. Both are fine as long as it helps them to remain free of their problem substance.

Arranging for an assessment is easy. Just phone 0151 709 1357 or email pj@spiderproject.org or sandra@spiderproject.org and we will contact you with a time and a date for an initial assessment to decide if Spider is suitable for your personal needs. If you are resident on the Wirral please phone 0151 652 8965 or email mel@spiderproject.org for an assessment. The assessment will take place at our offices in Liverpool city centre (22 Pilgrim St) or Birkenhead Park (Park Gates, Park Road North).

If you have any general queries about the Spider Project and our range of services please contact the project manager, Peter Naylor on 0151 709 4841 or email peter@spiderproject.org
